With truly groundbreaking new technology, Oracle brings speed, simplicity, and security to Java in virtual environments. It has long been true that the Java virtual machine (JVM) provides many of the same services an operating system does; add to that a virtualization layer that abstracts the hardware and isolates applications, and it becomes obvious that a full-blown operating system is largely redundant. Now Oracle has developed precisely the software components needed to complement the standard JVM and hypervisor. The result: an OS replacement module just a few megabytes large, extremely efficient, and incredibly simple to configure.
